Yesterday I moved my PC setup to a different room. While plugging everything in I plugged the power cord into the power supply on back of my computer tower while it was already plugged into an outlet that was on (the switch on power supply was also on -). There was a tiny spark on power supply outlet and since then when I try to turn on computer power it starts for a second (I hear fans spin) then it turns off right away. I was using a belkin surge protector at the time for the outlet. All parts are 4 months old. Motherboard LED lights remain on.
Is the problem the power supply or motherboard or something else? Is it my fault for not making sure the - 0 switch was on 0 before I plugged it in? Might the warranty cover this type of damage? Shipping to the warranty center for the power supply (SeaSonic) costs $20 while new unit costs $60 so don't wanna waste money shipping if they won't fix it so I am asking here first. Or if I contact the retailer (newegg) would they do anything? Again all parts are 4 months old
