I'm gonna buy a new ATA100 hard drive, and hesitate between the Maxtor diamond plus 60, and the IBM deskstar 60 GXP
(it's for audio application, cubase VST, multitracking ... and I can't afford SCSI)

Any opinion ?
(it will be used with a promise ATA100 PCI card - since I've got an old P2B MOBO with UDMA 33)

How about getting two cheaper (but reliable) hard drives and putting them on a RAID, for (not quite) double the performance?
Make sure you check compatability, but that's the way to go.

I've got two Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 30gig on a RAID 0.

Apple? Macintosh? What are these strange words you speak?

the one is cheaper, heh, why spend money for what you dont even notice (even I dont follow that rule myself I do recommend to save money on PCs, it is not worth it if you are doing just basic stuff )

But if it will be only 10-15 bux difference, get IBM (just my oppinion, I have them)

Post, we'll do the "search"...

I would go for the IBMs, but they're quite similar.
