Diamond Sound card woes

Hi folks. Win 7 64 bit. Installed Diamond Extreme Sound 7. 1 card with what I *believe* are the correct drivers. Sound was great - at first, then became progressively more scratchy with audio dropouts. Oddly enough, rebooting gets rid of the problem completely - for awhile. Does this sound like a driver problem or something else? Thanks in advance! fritz

could be a driver conflict. video cards install drivers ( both amd and nvidia have their own). you have on board sound. if you use headphones.....

if you use the sound card and have nothing else........... go into the BIOS and disable the on board sound.
