Recently got an iiyama 19" 454 pro monitor (mainly for its ability to do 1600x1200 @ 100MHz) but have to admit the 2 Horizontal damper wire shadows that run across the screen are very annoying.

Does anyone know of a similiar 19" monitor capable of 1600x1200 @100MHz that doesnt have damper wire shadows?

Cheers

Hi adamsh,

I can't recommend a monitor for you, off the top of my head. But I did do a little looking around for CRT ("picture tube") information.

You are going to get those annoying lines in any monitor equipped with a "Diamondtron" (Mitsubushi) or "Trinitron" (Sony) picture tube. The two lines are from mounting wires for the apeture grille.

Frankly the display quality of these tubes is no better than that of any other picture tube (in a well adjusted monitor) and given the annoyance of stray lines on the screen, definately not worth the extra money.

So, while I can't tell you what to buy, I can give you info on what not to buy <G>.

Hope this helps a little...
