Hey guys. I think I've done something really stupid. I was trying out some things with my computer and for some stupid reason I thought hooking up a hard drive from my dead laptop was a good idea. I connected it with a SATA cable and booted up the system. The hard drive started making the death rattle sound it did in the laptop (sounds like electrical brokenness) and the system wouldn't start. So I panicked and pushed down the power button until my PC shut off. Than I removed the hard drive and booted it up again. Now everything seemed alright until I started running Unigine Heaven to check if everything was alright. My GPU started whining in the loading screen as it always does. But then when running the benchmark it started making a different sound, which didn't sound like typical whining. It doesn't sound as high pitched, but it does seem frame rate related. It's like a fast electrical ticking or clicking noise. When I look up in Heaven benchmark free cam mode, the speed increases and gets high pitched. It sounds like it could be one tick per frame. It's really annoying and it worries be greatly. Before me fucking around with the hard drive the GPU was totally silent. Now it even has a very slight high pitched noise when not under load at all. My performance dropped .3 frames per second in Heaven benchmark but I don't think that's a big problem. I'm afraid I've damaged it though, it sounds like small sparks or something. D:
