Did I burn my gpu?

So I was trying to fit a Gtx1060 in a mATX case and the card started smelling like burnt and never started spinning the fans. I also don't have an 8-pin or 4+4 or 6+2 so I am really worried, but the PC itself turned on. Though, the monitor did not, neither did the fans of the card, but the light of it started shining. Is it because of the card or the missing PSU 8-pin?

The card won't run without the power connections.. if you shoved it into a spot it didn't fit in your case you may have damaged it.

you dont have the power cable to feed the gpu from psu and you did try it on the board then i would try to have this gpu in a system that could power it let hope you did not brick out your mothrerboard power system .

i think I actually did something wrong because with this card or with my other one, the monitor doesn't turn on even if I have fed the gpu with power or not.
what should i do ;(

did you made sure you did not unplug any power cable from bard or the cpu fan use a magnifier to check board for any burn parts or bubbled ones .
