Hello all,
Recently I decided I'd upgrade to a full new system from my old one ive had for 5 years. So I got the i7 8700k cpu, and got the ASRock Z270 KILLER motherboard. I saw they had the same socket so I assumed they would work. Lo and behold theyre not compatible, when I put the pc together it would not power on. I guess I was too quick to pick my parts and didnt see i needed a z370 motherboard. So im returning the motherboard to get the correct one. Whats concerning me is did I damage my i7 8700k by putting it into the z270 mobo? Thanks for the help!
