Just built a new PC. Basically I wasn't really on a budget but I had a rule where I didn't want to overkill anything or get something I don't need. I wanted best bang for my buck. The most I ever do is maybe play a game at 144hz and watch a stream at the same time. Might get into streaming a bit later.

Mobo: MSI Z270 A-PRO
CPU: I5-7600K 3.8GZ
Cooling: Enermax Liqimax 120MM / Cryorig H7
Graphics Card: Sapphire RX 480 NITRO 8G
Memory: 16 GB DDR4 2400 RipJaws
PSU: EVGA Bronze+ 600W
Storage: Kingston 128GB SSD + 1TB WL 7200 RPM 64MB CACHE
OS: Windows 10

So did I do alright? I'm still debating on what cooler I'm going to use. I currently have a 212 evo on it but am not happy with it. I'm RMAing it. I have both the coolers mentioned above ordered. Can't decide on which I want to use yet.

you didnt say though how much ram do you have.

its a good pc though 128gb ssd seems a bit small (i'd go with 256gb because then you can place more stuff there like games nad programs to increase pc speed)

This PSU is bad quality? 😵 I had no idea lol, just went off price/reviews on newegg. I'll check out some other options. Also Blackbird I gotta ask (politely) since I've been doing a lot of research on components and have seen you posting a lot. Are you affiliated with Cryorig in any way, or do you just believe their cooler is THAT good?

@Liron_ I have 16GB RAM. I was thinking about going full SSD for a while but I don't really keep too many games downloaded at once lol. I don't use much storage personally.

Thanks for the input gentlemen, I appreciate it!

wont recommend 1tb SSD, overpriced. the different between HDD and SSD isn't that big unless it comes to OS and *some* games. my apps still open fast on my single HDD and so games.

I like to call SSD as an "luxury thing", you are not forced to have it and can use your pc fine without it, but it's nice to have it to get the speed in games you want to load fast and when you want operating system to boot quickly. (actually ssd is really handy to cpu overclocking because you need to access bios all the time!)

still though cleaning your pc and taking care of it can result nice things. such as 30 sec startup of a pc on a HDD.

@Liron_

My HDD was actually $40.
My SSD was $50

I have my OS and a few main apps I use on my SSD. Everything else is on the HDD. I was just trying to be economical by doing it this way. I will say that the normal HDD noises are kind of annoying... an SSD would have been silent compared to it haha.

Thanks for that Blackbird, never even knew that. Might have to look at some other power supplies.

Thanks I'll def check that out. I blindly chose the cheapest 80+ PSU I could find lol. But hey so if I wanted to do a mild OC on my I5, H7 would still keep it cool? Like only to 4.0-4.2. Idk if it is even pointless to OC to that since the turbo frequency is already 4.2... lol.

Never follow customer reviews on PSU's, except if they say extremely bad things like "it blew up" or "pc keeps turning off".
Always search for professional reviews, I usually try jonnyguru first, because I like it the most. There's also tom's hardware, hardware secrets, kitguru and a few others.

He's voting the H7, because it's air, so there's no risk of leaks or any problems.
Also, 120mm liquid coolers, usually are not very good.
There's a 240MM H100i for about $100, if you want water, I suggest you get this.

I'll vouch for blackbird he's helped me out on my build aswell. Yea I would have done the H7 my self but wouldn't fit in my case so I went with the Corsair H60 120mm and put it in push pull since it was either going aio liquid cooler or a low profile CPU cooler. I'm happy with it keeps the CPU nice and cold but do your research aio is not just plug and play if you decide to go that route thats why so many people end up with dead pumps and such.

I personally like seasonic when it comes to their lower end psu's they don't skimp on anything

That's what I got in my rig I love it.

Btw forgot to say your build looks great. I like the 480 but they did have the r9 fury Sapphire nitro + close to the same price if you didn't already get the 480. Either way the 480 is still a great card and you could always crossfire it if you wanted to.

The fury only has 4G options though. Is it worth the extra $60?

Also - My 1 TB HDD is probably the loudest thing in my system. It isn't EXTREMELY loud but it is hear-able. From what I can tell all the sounds are pretty normal. I ordered this one:

I wonder if I should RMA it and get a western digital or something.. Idk if it would be any quieter? I guess maybe this is just the price you pay of having a HDD.

Edit: For $30 more I could have just went all SSD @ 500GB. Would have been more then enough. Wonder if I should have just done that instead of trying to save $.

rx 480 much more power efficent and sweet spot for 1080p, fury X might make sense as a budget card for 1440p (instead of picking gtx 1070)

500gb SSD could be a good option if you dont use more than 500 storage but I like to have at least 1tb just to make sure. (If I ever want to record stuff)

the reason people say to get HDD aswell as you wont see a major difference with SSD unless you do tasks who need that speed. for everyday gaming and browsing you may not even see a difference but for it but for work which requires fast disk writing speeds (heavy apps and rendering) it may come handy. so thats why its recommended to purchase a small in size SSD compared to HDDs, due to price/peformance

Yea I mean the 480 is a great card don't get me wrong but the that r9 fury Sapphire nitro + is just a steal at the price that is is selling at

$268- 15% up to $30 so it's $238 that a deal and a half. I actually ended up getting my Asus strixs 1070 fro. Them only paid $382. But yea until my wife said I could spend the extra on the 1070 I was going to get the r9 fury just a beautiful card best I've ever seen imo. I like the 480 though and it's definitely a good choice if you ever pan to cross fire it. It probably puts out less heat then the fury aswell. But the 4gb of ram on the fury is HBM so it's far superior to regular ram and it even beats the 1070 in one or two games.

In ways I still wish I would have got that card it's like a work of art.

You definitely want to stick with the HDD and SSD combo. You don't want to keep rewriting and deleting stuff on an SSD it has a finite amount of time you can do that and that would be the number one reason to me to keep the hdd. I have a WD blue 1tb HDD it's nice a quite I love it no issues so far.

Always try to to keep a good price to performance ratio don't get down on your self for saving a little. To me that part of the fun getting the most you can for your dollar.

@Kunra Zether I'm actually thinking about RMAing this RX 480 cause I can't even hold 144 FPS in league... How much better is the R9 Fury? Might even get a 1070...

Also is it normal for an HDD to be making a bit of noise you can hear from the case? It isn't terribly loud but can still hear it.

Well you can do alot of games in 1440 resolution with the r9 fury Sapphire nitro. The gtx 1070 will do 1440p at a better and more stable from rate and even 4k on some titles.

I have looked up videos of the Rx 480 and the r9 fury being ran in game with the fps counter in the corner and both were getting well over 200fps I'm not sure why your 480 isn't able to hold 144fps.

I think that it is fine that you are hearing some noise from the hdd. I hear that from alot of people and in alot of reviews. I know that server hdds are the loudest they can make a very audible clicking sound. I don't think the noise is anything to be concerned with.

Just a side note if you did get the r9 fury I suggest a 650 watt PSU minimum 750 w recommend by manufacture but I feel the 650w would be more then enough. Gtx 1070 could probably run fine on a 450w PSU mine is running on a 550w PSU at this moment.

Yeah I'm not sure. I was looking at some videos of the RX 480 and theirs seem to be performing a little bit better than mine. They still drop below 144 FPS sometimes and that never happened with the 970. Reviews were saying the RX 480 was better then the 1060 and I gotta say that has to be not true. I'm also stuttering a bit when I move the screen.
