Hello, I just bought a pre built ASUS gaming pc from fry's, I got it tax free and 0% interest for 1 year and was wondering if this was a pretty good deal seeing as how I didn't have all the cash up front I had to finance it (0% interest tax free). Seems like everyone including my best friend says its cheaper to build it yourself. Just wanted to know if I got "ripped off" as my friend says.. heres a link to the computer http://www.frys.com/product/8657010?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
I only ended up with a total of 1,229 as mine was on sale. Thanks for any replies,

"Ripped Off" is subjective.

The same pitfalls that have plagued pre-builts remain. There's no info listed on PSU (500W) or Motherboard (H110 Chipset).

An i7-6700 (non K), 16GB DDR4, AC Wifi, and a GTX 970..............I don't know. I wouldn't have paid $1,229 for it myself, but only you can decide if the pre-built factor, no tax & interest free payments makes it a good deal for you.

The i7 is a quality CPU, but probably overkill for most users. The 970 isn't the 'ideal' card these days, as newer cards (like the GTX 1060 6GB) are priced roughly the same, but it's still a pretty good card.

Did you need Wifi? Did you need 16GB RAM? There's no 'true' SSD either. It's a 2TB HDD with an 8GB SSD Cache.

Again, I would never...
Yeah, you could have done cheaper had you built it yourself. But given that you didn't have the money and needed to finance it I think it's a fine solution for your situation. The lack of a true SSD (not a hybrid drive) is a bit annoying, but you can always add one in later.

Again, I would never recommend it, nor would I buy it myself.......but it might be a "good deal" for you, depending on how you look at it.
