Did i get scammed?

I bought an i3-8100 from a trustworthy shop, not second hand.
Im viewing the specs in Speccy
It says codename Kaby lake, when it shoupd be coffee lake, and it says that hyperthreading is not supported, even though it should.
Should i get a refund?

The 8100 does not have hyperthreading and is just 4 cores and 4 threads... If you are worried just return it. Have you checked the 8100 in CPUz?

Speccy is probably wrong. Try CPU-Z I don't believe speccy has been updated in a long time. It's right about everything other than it being kaby lake. The i3 8100 does not have hyperthreading, it's 4cores 4 threads like older i5's.

Coffee lake doesn't do i3 with hyperthreading so that is actually right

My guess is the kaby lake is just a bad read by speccy. because if it was kaby lake it would be a dual core with 4 threads..

Everything looks right instead of the Kaby Lake bit but these really are just kaby lake refreshes so double check with CPUz..

I checked with cpuz as suggested and you are right, it does say coffee lake. But, when i check with geekbench, it says kaby lake all over again

CPUz is much more reliable and it should be okay...As SgtScream says you can also check on the IHS...

In CPUz you can benchmark the CPU and then compare that score with others for the 8100..if you are there or there about's its okay...

Its the top cover of the CPU...Means taking of the CPU cooler and looking at whats written on it..

Oh, it did write i3 8100 on the physical plate of the cpu, but im a bit paranoid

I don't think that kaby would work in a 300 series mobo, that was the situation at launch at least.

Download Intel XTU and checkout the system information tab. It will tell you what CPU you have. XTU is Intel's tuning utility and Intel knows Intel CPUs best.
