Did I go overkill on storage?

Solution

Well...my main PC has ~1.5TB of SSD and 3TB of HDD.
My htpc/house server has 13+TB drive space.

So no. You did not go overboard.
Unless you think you did.

The real question is...what are you actually doing with that space?

Well, I will tell you definitely not making a server xP. But I definitely will self host in the future, not with my rig I'm building though, this is my first. But yeah, I was gonna get 4 TB for future use, then I saw 5 TB was 20 bucks more, so I had a hell yea moment. Btw how much did that SSD cost you?

It's only ever overkill if you don't use it. If you find your drives are <50% full ALL of the time, then "yes" it was clearly overkill and you could saved yourself a bunch of $$$ by buying less. Only you can know how much storage you need on a day to day basis.
