Did I grab an incompatible GPU?

I uploaded two reference photos and what I'm wondering is did I grab the wrong GPU?

I pop this card into the only PCIE x16 slot available but get nothing.

I think I grabbed the wrong card? Because the GTX 950 this card is replacing worked fine before, but it filled the entire PCIE slot though too.

I am trying to throw this into a HP p6243w.

8gb of DDR2 ram
CPU is AMD Phenom x4 9850
PSU is 620 watt Antec

GTX 950 worked fine, that's the one with two fans that makes it 10 inches long.

However, that one needed a plug in run to it from the PSU to run

This low profile 64bit passive GT 730 is supposed to draw it's resources from the motherboard

That's my problem, isn't it?

The PEGATRON M2N68-LA motherboard doesn't send enough juice to the card?

I took out the GTX 950 and replaced it with this $50 card to give it something that could run Fallot NV and Skyrim, something strong enough to sell it eadier and get some money back for another budget build I'm working on

A card good enough for at least that at 50 will allow me to sell a 50 dollar desktop for 200.

Starting with the card, the PCIe connector is short because a weak card like that doesn't require all 16 PCIe lanes to work at full capacity, and that way it can be used in smaller slots as well as full length ones. So, no you didn't get the wrong card, it should work just fine.

Next, the power. A GT 730 only needs 30w, and your old 950 would've drawn more than that from the slot, plus extra from it's 6 pin power lead, I don't believe you have a power issue.

I suggest you remove the display drivers (you probably need to put your old card back in), DDU is a good program to use. Once the drivers are removed, put the 730 back in and see if it boots, if it does then install it's drivers.

Most likely the BIOS of your motherboard doesn't really like your card (a known issue in older branded PCs when you try to use nvidia series 7 or above). Unless there is a BIOS update for your mobo that fixes the issue (very unlikely, but you can check manufacturer's support page) there is nothing you can really do.

As a sidenote, (I am sure you know this, but have to point it out) you are trying to perform a significant downgrade. 950 is much faster than 730.

I uninstalled via Device Manager. I should of used DDU.

Now it won't show any display with the GTX 950 now. Sigh, lol

I was trying to rush, it's 3am, I should of used DDU

This is really strange. I've clean installed at least 15 times, truly, and this never happened before.

The PC will boot up but leads no where, just a black screen. I'm sure it's booting to desktop though, but I'm not even seeing the option to get into bios. It stays black always

So to recap,

I put 950 back in. Made it to desktop, uninstalled 950 rivers via Device Manager

Shut down.

Pulled out 950, put in 730. No luck

Pulled out 730, put in 950

Now it won't boot for the 950 now too

My problem is my "monitor" is a 42 inch LG TV with only a HDMI port, no VGA or DVI lol. I'm screwed until I get a junk monitor to trouble shoot with onboard graphics

I wish I could get to bios, I'd clean install.

When I stuck the 730 in and booted up first time to see black, I intended to clean install anyways before I even made it to the desktop. Wasn't even gonna uninstall drivers for 950, was gonna clean install instead

For what it's worth when I am on HDMI2 (my Android top box) and I boot up PC (which is on HDMI1) the TV says, "New device connected, switch to HDMI1 to enjoy it?"

That's not new.

So when I selected yes, it led me there only to say "No signal found" again.

It did that for both cards
