[SOLVED] Did I install my GPU correctly

Hello, I was wondering if I installed my new GPU correctly. I have installed two gpu's before and I have never had a problem. But today I installed the RX 5700 into my computer and I realized thatb the PCI pin I have is a 6 pin only and the GPU requires 8 pin. I plugged it in anyways and the graphics card does not even turn on.

Sounds like the hardware isn't the right tool for the job. You need a new psu, and one with the appropriate 6+2 pin connections.

Listing your specs would be a good start.

You will need a new PSU though in any case.

Hopefully, you didn't cause additional damage. It's quite frightening that you actually connected an RX 5700 to a 450W that is of such poor quality that it only has a six-pin connector.

The above psu suggestion works. You don't need anything too big with a Ryzen cpu.

Everything takes a while to ship right now. It doesn't change the basic safety issues.

You'll survive having a 1050 Ti for a little longer than you would like. If you run an RX 5700 on underpowered junk, it may not. And even if it does, there's a reasonable chance that there's silent damage that shortens its lifespan.
