My motherboard has two red slots and two black slots for RAM...I bought a 2x8GB kit and inserted both sticks into the red slots....Did I install them correctly ?

besides looking at motherboard's manual, Is there a way to find out that you installed them correctly ? Can I check that I installed them correctly using a utility software for Win10 ?

Solution
Correct, if you're booting up at all you've installed them correctly.

Page 10 of your motherboard manual shows that either pair of slots is fine for dual-channel performance, so you should be good to go.
1) Your motherboard manual is absolutely the place to check for that information. If you tell us your motherboard model we can double check for you.

2) You'll definitely be plugging them into one of the coloured pairs, so your intuition was correct

3) Even if you didn't plug them into the slots that provide 'Best Performance", the fact that you can boot your PC at all indicates that they are installed correctly. RAM installed correctly in either of the paired slots will achieve a working machine. The only difference is there is typically one pair that provides 'better' throughput if only using 2 RAM modules.
