I recently purchased a setup from my local shop(I've been using a laptop for about 4 years and its starting to die) with a Zotac GTX 1070 amp edition and a Core i7 7700k. I'm completely new to the computer building world(this is my first PC) and I had a friend of mine come along with me(he's a computer technician) to pick out some parts and what brands I should get. Now I hear all of these talk about Ryzen. Now the same guy is telling me that I should go Ryzen, and started showing me a bunch of charts that I don't understand. My question is, is this one of those "Sell my core i7 7700k and but that other thing" situations? I just want to play some games i've seen my other friends play since my laptop couldnt run any of them even at medium settings(Overwatch was kind of laggy at medium settings). If the monitor matters or anything, I got the BenQ Zowie XL2411.
