So i'm doing some major upgrades on my machine
old specs:
amd athlon 750k yada yada
asrock a85x extreme 4-m
corsair cx 430w psu
asus 7790 2gb
gskill 2133 sniper series ram
who cares about the case
anyways here's the first upgrade I made(yes huge upgrade I know ^^)
i7 5790k
asus sabertooth z97 mark 2
corsair cx 430w psu
asus 7790 2gb
gskill 2133 sniper series ram 2x4
who cares about the case
new specs tomorrow:
i7 5790k
asus sabertooth z97 mark 2
corsair cx 750w modular psu
msi gtx 970
gskill 2133 sniper series ram 2x4
who cares about the case
anyways last night I made an impulse purchase and ordered a msi gtx 970 with a corsair 750 cx modular psu. I went with the lower end psu because my old one has served me fine for nearly 3 years now no issues so I decided i'd cheap out and just get that. now this morning I wake up and read everywhere on the internet about coil whine with higher end gpus and this particular power supply. I know coil whine can happen to any PSU but it seems to be a prominent issue with the cx builder series power supplys.
Now my question for you the tomshardware community should I,
A. refuse shipping when UPS delivers to my house tomorrow for the power supply wait for a refund and get a quality power supply or should I
B. stop reading reviews on the internet and giving my self anxiety and test it out and ruin the chance of getting a refund I dont even want to deal with RMA's because it'll just be the same recurring issue.? and if it gives me problems just order a quality psu later on? money really isn't the issue here I just don't want a useless powersupply laying around uknow?
thanks if you read my long post.
