i had an i5 3450 for 4 years,i brought i7 7700 for rs 21000(340 us dollars) and gigabyte b250m motherboard for Rs 6500(100dollars)...
i was very tight on budget.....the i7 7700k costed rs 28000(440 us dollars).....
did i do anything wrong? will this processor last enough for 3 more years? as i do gaming on 1080p like battlfield and overwatch..i have an rx 480

What you chose was fine. With a B250 board, you can't overclock, so the 7700 is a better deal than the 7700K. It should last you a long enough.

It's a great processor, but no one can predict how long it will last. No one has a crystal ball, or at least no one I know. If I were to guess, I would guess that in three years time you will still be happy with that CPU. It is unlikely to ever be a bottleneck for 1080p gaming.

The i7 should run fine now, and just fine in 3 years. It's a top processor. Your GPU will also help you to play games like BF1 and Overwatch at 1080p easily. You can play those on HIGH/ULTRA if you choose, too, but your CPU shelf life may decrease depending on how long you play.

You won't regret it, but one thing to point out would be that the 7700k is only £10 more expensive which isn't a lot, and there is quite a difference.
Here, check this link out and you can make your own conclusion:
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-7700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-7700/3647vs3887

If you're still not sure, then don't hesitate to tell me so I could help you with that.

Hope that helps! :)

at my place the board + processor costs around 145 pounds more .......soo is it worth 20% more performance?

No. £145$ extra for a processor that gives you 20% more performance isn't worth it, especially if they can run games like BF1 and Overwatch at ultra with ease. You'll be saving money and it'll be worth it. So from me, it's a no.

Hope this helps. :)
