Hello

Today i did a dumb dumb thing , I was looking for a particular game on G2a and have used them in past couple times , no issues but today i misunderstood the product and instead of a game i purchased an account with that game... which is not what i wanted till it was too late. i know my fault , Now they sent me email with instructions how to redeem the account , change password etc on it. It used a email service called sogu... and gave me login / password of it with linked steam account. I managed to change the steam account / password but i noticed since i did this my pc Doest go to sleep if i am inactive (set to 15 mins ) and i randomly hear a 'thud' sound from my monitor time to time...

Did i screw up my PC doing this? and how do i check if i didn't infect my pc somehow. Antimalware byte came out with no issues but i am using free version that is out of trail time now.

Do not consider yourself "dumb".

Scammers, thiefs, hackers, etc. are increasingly tricky and deceptive.

This:

"i purchased an account with that game.."

Your first priority should be to ensure that you can cancel the purchase and otherwise financially protect yourself as warranted.

Next: "what game"? Are you sure that you were truly purchasing from G2a?

Be leery of instructions to change passwords, etc..

Go directly back to any of your accounts and change the passwords again so that no one else but you has the password.

And try to further explain -

"since i did this my pc Doest go to sleep if i am inactive (set to 15 mins ) and i randomly hear a 'thud' sound from my monitor time to time..."

Thank you for your reply ,

So i checked review of the seller that had 99% positive reviews... everyone else assumed same. and seems no one is getting their refunds. I used a post office prepaid credit card but still wary of them misusing it or hacking into it in future , I don't have much money on it but i do not keep track of it regularly and use it for such purchases.. and i am unable to contest this purchase unless i contact them directly and i don't think 20 euro is worth the hassle , Lesson learned .

So i doubt i am getting refund. I am Positive i purchased from G2a , I contacted to seller but they have same reply to every single bad review .

However i was able to change the password / email of the steam account they gave me . i enabled steam guard and added my number to account , How secure am i now with this account? How likely am i gonna lose it or get banned?

How safe is family sharing from my main account to play the game and never bother with this account again?

My real concern is , i had to click on a never heard email service , log into it and authorise the steam login . I logged out of it but i am still worried if i infected my PC somehow. how safe am i to delete my browsing history / cookies and saved passwords .

Reviews can be faked - no way to really know if any given review is true or not.

And simply consider that your computer and all involved accounts have been compromised.

As I understand the gist of your post, I would delete browsing history and passwords stored on the system.

Just copy down any stored passwords beforehand and then go to each account and change the passwords.

Use another computer - nothing public to make the changes.

Run some AV and malware scans on your PC to see if anything is found.

Overall though the only way to be sure that the computer in question is safe is to do a clean install.

There may be other ideas and suggestions.

As for:

"I used a post office prepaid credit card but still wary of them misusing it or hacking into it in future , I don't have much money on it but i do not keep track of it regularly and use it for such purchases.. and i am unable to contest this purchase unless i contact them directly and i don't think 20 euro is worth the hassle , Lesson learned ."

Indeed.

If possible, use the rest of the value yourself to zero out the balance. Get a new card if you so wish and simply start keeping track of the balance.

Be both careful and suspicious of any online purchases and transactions.
