i just killed my core 2 duo cpu due to static discharge it was confirmed that it is dead . I used it on DG31PR motherboard intel . then when i was changing the cpu fell and i touched its bottom part (socket part) and it was useless many experts tried to rescue it ( that was SENTIMENTAL because it was gift from my bro before he died ) then one day i was dumping my old pc out it was plugged with the dead cpu (D945GCPE MOTHERBOARD INTEL ) then i was away and my dad un-knowingly reconnected that old pc and started it and it worked ! it is now running windows 8.1
64bit and has only 43% load on it even though i play games on it (nfs mostwanted 2005 )

PLEASE GIVE ME A LOGICAL EXPLANATION !

update : it works only in that motherboard

Solution
It takes a fair amount of ESD to actually zap a chip mounted on a PCB like the CPU substrate with a fair amount of bulk and decoupling capacitors mounted on it. As Danbuscus said, you most likely never killed it.

thanks for the commpliment !!! but it works on both the boards now just had to clean the bottom of the motherboard !!!
FINALLY LOGISTICAL
