Did I Trash My CPU Socket?

Hello,

I have an ASUS Z270E Strix motherboard. Long story short I accidentally touched the socket and am wondering if the pins are bent or otherwise unusable? It does seem that 1-2 pins are raised higher than others. Have never built an Intel system so the CPU socket interface is new to me. If it is FUBAR'd how long does it take ASUS to repair the motherboard? I have an Intel 7700K Kaby Lake and do not want to potentially fry my $350 dollar brand new CPU.

Thanks!

You can fix the bent pins yourself, use a magnifying glass and a set of long nose tweezers or a pin, something similar, be very careful, don't mess with them too much, last thing you want to do is snap them off, there's 100s of videos on you tube on how to fix bent pins. https://youtu.be/1fkioojsxX8

Bent pins are not covered under manufacturer's warranty as its end user damage not a fault caused by them.

I really dont see any pins affected. If you are paranoid you can use 90% isopropyl alcohol and wash the CPU socket off the oily fingerprints left on the socket. Then fit the CPU in properly. If it fits snugly it should be okay.

CPU pins wont be damaged by just a poke of a soft fleshy finger. Heck some people even plugged the wrong CPU, and only unless they clamp down the cooler with it the pins do bend.

Enjoy overclocking your 7700K, wish you 5 GHz silicon luck!
