Did i use too much thermal paste?

i used about that amount on my i5 4690 is it bad? my pc temps are perfect and pc works fine but could it cause problems in the long run?

It's a bit larger than I'd use but what issues might arise will depend upon what was used.

Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity.
(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)

The amount and method will depend upon the type of cooler used.

It is a little more than I'd apply personally but:

In short:
1. The application method doesn't impact performance (provided there's enough).
2. There is such a thing as "not enough"
3. The only time it becomes "too much" is if the paste is squeezing out the side once the cooler is in place. Otherwise, you're fine.

The only problems from "too much" are what JNPE has linked there.

If it's not squeezing out the sides, you're fine (and it shouldn't be. That's not a ridiculous amount of paste. A little more than I'd do, but it's some what short of being ridiculous).

Didn't the stock cooler come with thermal paste already applied? Or did you have to take off the stock cooler and are now re-installing it?

The amount you used looks pretty good to me.

The stock cooler uses a thermal pad... you don't want to add any TIM... having double the amount of TOM and having two different types is not something I'd keep.

Not really i had the stock cooler with the stock thermal pad for 5-6 motnhs but it was heating up so i cleaned the cooler reapplied a new thermal paste and now its cooler

and by reapply i meant remove the other paste before applying the new one...
