Did My Graphics Card Damage My HDD?

Hello, I recently installed my new Nvidia GTX PNY 650 Ti Boost and I am now suffering from HDD failure, it was running fine for a about 6 hours and after that the HDD failure message came up. I changed the card back to my old 620 and i did not have the problem, but my HDD was spinning just above the threshold. I am not an expert with PC's but I know the basics, is this just coincidence or did my graphics card damage my HDD?

HDDs can over heat, make sure yours is running within temperature limits. Use a program that can do S.M.A.R.T. and make sure that it's enabled in the BIOS.

Gpus can't directly affect the hdd. The popup is from triggering smart, it'll popup again every so often as it cannot be reset. Since you mentioned threshold you probably have already looked at the smart data to see which attribute triggered it.
