Question Did my network adapter die from old age?

I've had this PC since 2012. Over a couple months my wifi adapter got increasingly slower and slower speeds, followed by connecting but having trouble loading anything, and now being totally unrecognized and non-existent to windows. Is this typical of older network adapters?

Not from my experience... most likely your airway has gotten noisier.

I've had wifi adapters from less than stellar companies that seemed to develop problems over time (disconnecting)...since I've switched to Netgear I haven't had any. The problem may have been interference or whatever but as I said....I haven't had any problems with Netgear.
