Did Samsung Data Migration Software break my PC? - Bluescreen after windows 8 install

I've spent all day trying to get my computer back up and running again with no luck. My old build included a gigabyte UD3H board and a 120GB Samsung 840 SSD. I replaced the board with an ASUS Z97M Plus and added a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD. I took the old SSD out, replaced the board and did a fresh install of Windows 8 to the new SSD via an install CD. Everything worked.

I installed loads of drivers for this and that, then ventured onto getting my old data transferred over. I came across the Samsung Data Migration software that was included with my SSD. I was told to copy a drive to another, I would need to boot up the drive that I wanted copied. I popped in my old SSD and everything booted up perfectly. I ran the software and everything was cloned to the new SSD.... Then bluescreen right after the first windows logo appears.

I've tried formatting the SSD and removing all particians via the windows 8 install disk (it's an option when you choose what drive you want to install to). The files always transfer, then a restart is required, followed by either a bluescreen (error WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR) or an error message saying "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. Click OK to restart the computer and then restart the installation."

The SATA mode is set to AHCI. All default motherboard settings.

What else can I try? Any help is greatly appreciated!

This was good.

This was bad.
If I'm reading this right, you cloned the entirety of the old drive onto the new SSD, including the OS, overwriting what you had installed with the fresh install.

Solution?
Start over.
Have on the desired drive connected, install the OS.
Then reinstall your applications
Then connect your old drive and copy whatever files you want.
