I was thinking about buying a 120 or 144 hz monitor but they seam a bit expensive. Also, call me a console peasant, but I can't see the difference between 90 and 144hz displays. Both look and feel equally smooth. So I was wondering if there was a regular LCD panel that could go up to 85-90hz refresh rate. Screen size and resolution doesn't meter.
Did you overclock your monitor? What's your monitor model and what frequency did it go up to?

Solution
First of all, you have to know if your gpu is up to the test to run games at that frequency, since it can reach really high temperatures there.
As far as the monitor goes, it is possible to overclock it, but don't really recommend it.
If you overclock too high, your screen may go black, but return to normal after a couple of seconds.
And overclocking a monitor highly stresses it, so wouldn't be suprised after it stopped working after a year, or half.
