Differeces between the disc version of windows 8.1 and the student edition?

Check to see if the student version is 32-bit or 64-bit.
I have a friend going for an engineering major who was given a Windows 8.1 OS for free from his school, but it's only 32-bit, so you're limited to only 4GB of RAM and no 64-bit programs.

All your friend had to do was find a 64 bit disk. They keys are interchangeable.
