So, I was looking forward to buy GTX 650 1 GB but then suddenly I saw that there was another version of the same card with 2 Gigs of video RAM and due to a discount, the price was same for both. I am a little confused here - Should I go with GTX 650 1 GB or GTX 650 2 GB and I have heard that 2 GB is more than what GTX 650 can handle and thus the extra 1 gig will have no use. Will there be any negative effects towards my gameplay if I go with the 2 GB version of the card? And what exactly is the difference between the two cards?

Go for 2GB version, the mean difference is the amount of VRAM the cards have, 1GB version has 1GB of VRAM while 2GB has 2GB of VRAM. More the VRAM, more the card can process (unless it runs out of processing power). I don't who told you that but he probably has never gamed before. The extra GB is indeed useful, unless you're gaming on a 480p monitor.

Well, I am on a 900p monitor. So, the more the VRAM the higher the resolution the GPU can handle right?

Actually they are related.

The bus width limits the amount of memory chips you can use (and also size, as the vram chips are only available in certain capacities).

That's not exactly what I mean, I mean it is not related in the aspect of limiting the video ram. To be put also the other way, they are not entirely related to each other. The bus is large enough to accommodate double the reference vram, i.e. 256-Bit bus has the ability to use 3.8GB Vram.
