Hi guys, i have Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz Box 2MB 65nm AM2 processor, and i have another one Intel motherboard, socket 775, and im thinking about buying Xeon x5460, it's compatible with that board. My questions is, is it big difference between these two cpus? This AMD work to high, he's struggling, he work on 90-100% only with Chrome and Torrent. If i buy that xeon, it will be alot faster?

Solution
Athlon 64 X2 5000
Dual Core @ 2.6ghz
Released Q4 2008
65W AM2 CPU Will fit in AM2+/AM3 boards
Single Thread Rating 782 "Using Passmark"
CPU Mark 1312 "Using Passmark"

Intel Xeon X5460
Quad Core @ 3.16GHz
Released Q1 2009
120W LGA771 will fit LGA775 with an adapter and supporting chipset
Single Thread Rating 1330 "Using Passmark"
CPU Mark 4340 "Using Passmark"

Basically, an X5460 is twice as fast and uses nearly twice the power. You need to do a little research on your LGA775 board and make sure that CPU will work, it's not a 100% chance things will always go well when adapting to LGA775/LGA771.
