Difference between 2 CPU'S

Hi guys, i have Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz Box 2MB 65nm AM2 processor, and i have another one Intel motherboard, socket 775, and im thinking about buying Xeon x5460, it's compatible with that board. My questions is, is it big difference between these two cpus? This AMD work to high, he's struggling, he work on 90-100% only with Chrome and Torrent. If i buy that xeon, it will be alot faster?

Yes the Xeon X5460 is newer, faster, and has four cores.

just one problem, is the X5460 is a LGA 771 not a LGA 775 and will not work directly on your pc.

what is your motherboard?, probably one that IS compatible with your LGA 775. just not that one.

Basically, an X5460 is twice as fast and uses nearly twice the power. You need to do a little research on your LGA775 board and make sure that CPU will work, it's not a 100% chance things will always go well when adapting to LGA775/LGA771.

Seems like there would be a decent Core 2 Quad that is compatible with the LGA 775 board.

Gigabyte EP35-DS3 here i found my motherboard, and there it says that will work. Thanks guys for the replies
