Hi!

1. HP presented recently Deskjet 5150 successor - Deskjet 5740. 5150
with 19ml cartridge can print 450 pages at 5%. 5740 with 21ml cartridge
can print 800 pages. With 2ml difference you can print almost 80%
more!! What makes new model so economical?

2. HP states that it's printer - 4760 can print 260 pages in color with
15% coverage with 7ml cartridge. That means that you can print 260 with
5% coverage in every color with 7/3=2,33ml of ink.
On the other side we have Epson that says that Epson C86 can print 250
pages with 5% coverage with its 8ml cartridge. It means that HP is 3x
more economical!! Why?

I know that sizes of droplets and other parameters aren't the same but
C86 is one of the cheapest printers!! What are your thoughts about HP
printers. Do you believe in HP numbers?

The Deskjet 5740 cartrdige uses a darker black pigment, so less ink is required

The 15% coverage is 5% each of all three colors. Printing 260 pages with 5% of
each color would take the full 7mL of ink, not 2.33 mL.

That is what I meant:) But with Epson C86, printing 250 pages with 15%
coverage takes 24ml. And Epson printer is very economical when it comes
to color printing. I just can't believe that Epson uses over 3 times
more ink when compared to HP.

Hmm.... I cannot believe Epson uses nearly 0.1 mL per page. That is a lot of
ink. I do know the HP numbers are correct, for plain paper normal mode
printing.
