difference between live and boot cd

Solution
a live cd allows you to run a fully working operating system off of a cd without installing it to a hard drive. (usefull for testing an os or doing repairs to a file system repairs to a hard drive without having to do a clean install). it still has the boot software a boot cd has plus an os on the cd also

a boot cd just allows the computer to boot to a point where you can load an operating system or another program. usually this will just load a command promt to load the program you need.
