What exactly do you look for when buying a PSU? I understand you look at the wattage, the efficiency percentage and other information.

What would the difference be between these two power supplies aside the efficiency level? I'm told I should go with the first one but I'd like to know what exactly I should be looking out for.

EVGA 600 W1, 80+ WHITE 600W
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3, 80 Plus Gold 650W

Thanks.

The whole inside of the G3 is much much better than the 600 W1. The fan is...

By build quality, do you mean endurance? Or something else

There's a reason the 650 G3 costs much more money. If you're looking at a power supply and thinking "wow that's cheap for that amount of watts and I'm familiar with the brand, too" then it's probably a poor purchase option. Buying a power supply is different from buying almost every other piece of computer hardware because it requires a little more knowledge that people on this forum would be happy to assist you with.

Its what I was thinking but I'm certain there is a difference because people suggest the G2 and G3 a lot. Is the reason the price difference because of the efficiency alone or does something else play a role here (including build)?

The whole inside of the G3 is much much better than the 600 W1. The fan is better, it has a much longer warranty, it is much more reliably made. Additionally, its electrical performance is vastly superior. Electrical performance won't make your computer any faster, but it can ensure that your CPUs, GPUs, motherboard, and hard drives all have good lifespans, too.

What are your computer specs anyway? A lot of people overestimate their wattage they need.

I7 7700K
GTX 1080
4 fans
1 HDD and ODD

I'll just save the extra bit if thats the case, since this is expensive

United Kingdom.
I bought the EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2, this should be enough for my build. Thanks for your help though.

That's a good PSU and more than enough for your specs.

One of the better 650W PSU's on the market for sure. :)
