I'm looking for DDR3 2x4GB for an ASUS P8Z68 motherboard.
What's the difference between these two RAMs?

Good question.

For all practical purposes there is no difference.

The XL verion has slightly bigger heat spreaders which do not make any difference in performance, but might not clear some cpu coolers.
It also has XMP which can automatically set the ram to it's maximum speed. But, you can do that in the bios too.
Since sandy bridge is insensitive to ram speed, if that is what you have, there is not much value in overclocking the ram from it's default of 1333 to 1600 anyway.

I think I would pick the RL version since it has a 20% off promo code.
