I've heard that the ssc version of the gtx 960 is better than the ftw version is it true? Then how come? I mean the ftw version of the 960 has a little bit more clockspeed and boost clock which would generally result in a little bit higher fps in games? Help please!!!

There are several versions of the GTX 960, all from different manufactures (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc). Are you referring to that variation or the different models with 2GB or 4GB of VRAM.

VRAM is vital to high resolutions. If you are gaming/working at 1080p, the 2GB is fine. Anything higher and you will want the 4GB version.

I only want the 2 gb version as I will be gaming at 1080p and i only want the evga so the ssc one or ftw one? Consider only these two gpus by evga and none other, so which ones better and why?

The FTW is the better card. With EVGA they have FTW series cards for most models, FTW = For The Win. These cards have quality chips that have passed their quality testing and work well enough to achieve higher clock speeds.

The SSC cards are great, but the FTW cards are just a bit better with higher clock speeds and quality chips.

honestly mate you want to go for the 1 with the quietest cooler. because performance wise the extra cost of the supposedly faster card isnt worth it. on that gtx variation
they both will oc to very similar levels but 1 will sound like a vacuum cleaner while the other will sound like a slightly less noisy vacuum cleaner 😉

I don't see why the scc wount do you good - I also see over at evga they were discussing issues with the ftw line of cards [gtx980] but when evga guy comments on it he don't say gtx 980 he puts it as'' the ftw line of cards ''?? so I guess read into that as you want

anyway I would just go for the 4gb card to get what ever it offers over the 2gb ones [opinion] down the road you may find that was the better choice

I agree both cards are great, in my opinion I would get the FTW card just because I know their chips are a bit better with more quality.

In regards to the 2GB or 4GB, for the GTX 960 just get the 2GB. More VRAM is needed for higher resolutions and hte 960 would struggle with a lot of games at 1440p/4K anyway so you would need to SLI them for good performance at those resolutions. If you are going with the GTX 960, save the money and get the 2GB as you won't use 4GB with that card.

Overall, both cards will work for you...it just comes down to what YOU want and what YOU need. Take the advice given, read reviews, and make a choice that works for YOU.

FPS gain between those cards will vary based on the rest of your system, but you may see 1-2 FPS difference...not too much as they have the same GPU/VRAM, just different clock speeds.

But the FTW edition has their GPU chips tested to higher standards and will be able to OC better, last longer, etc.

''in my opinion I would get the FTW card just because I know their chips are a bit better with more quality''

then why is there all the issues now with them ?? you don't know that for all you know its sales hype ??

''discussing issues with the ftw line of cards [gtx980] but when evga guy comments on it he don't say gtx 980 he puts it as'' the ftw line of cards ''?? so I guess read into that as you want ''

thing is you don't see as many complaints with the ssc as you do with the ftw and then you see what one seems to sell if you look at customer revews as a sales # guide ??

to me it sure seems like the 900 cards that go over NVidia spec . seems to have a great deal of issues overall ???
