Difference between upgrading and future proofing ram?

Hello all, last night I took my first plunge into PC modding by replacing my stock power supply unit with a cooler master one and now i think I've caught the modding bug. I'm planning on doing an SLI with two gtx 980's. I currently have 16gb of RAM (4 4gb sticks XPG Z1 DDR4 @ 2800mhz) and wondering if I should bother to upgrade to 32gb with a higher speed. My question is there any point in upgrading to a higher speed and ram amount or is 16gb more than enough? If I do go the 32gb route I dont plan on upgrading for quite a while but then I wonder if I will miss out on DDR5 or DDR6 in the future. I really only gaming and nothing else if that matters

For context this is my setup, I preferably want 1080p ultra with a locked 60fps, (1440p with higher fps is a welcome bonus)

Intel i7-5820k @ 3.30ghz
msi gtx 980 4g
'4' 4gb sticks XPG Z1 DDR4 @ 2800mhz
msi x99a raider MB

Solution
Short answer no.

Long answer more RAM is only worth it for professionals. Like engineers using CAD software or animators making 3D models (both jobs are really the same thing just one puts people lives in danger if you do the math wrong). Now jump forward 10 years and maybe 16 GB of RAM will be the new recommended and 32 GB will be the preferred amount.
