Difference between white and black memory slots?

I have an msi bazooka H370M motherboard with 4 ram slots, 2 white, and two black. Theres one 8gb stick in the first white one. If i were to buy a 2 pack of memory sticks, would it matter which slots i put them in?

Side question: Do the memory sticks have to be the same model, or even from the same company?

Normally the difference in color indicates which slots you should plug into first to obtain Dual Channel Memory speeds.

It is best that you refer to your motherboards manual. It will tell you what slots to use first and in what order to make sure you are properly installing your ram and getting the most out of it.

Yes, it matters. The motherboard manual should tell you where you have to put them, if you don't have it, look up on Internet.

The memory sticks can be from another company, but they should have the same Mhz and I don't know if there is another spec that should be compatible.
