Difference in cards.

Hi,

I have recently put together a server which I plan too use for game hosting.

The server has the following hardware configuration.

  • CPU: I7 3770
    GPU: Nvidia Quadro 210
    Motherboard: asrock z77 extreme4
    PSU: VS550
    HDD: 4X st2000lm007 2tb
    SSD: Samsung EVO 850 500GB

With all the different NVIDIA GPU's out there such as Quadro, Geforce and Tesla I wanted too know if there is a specific type which would suit a server application? i'm looking for something around $250 AUD.

Solution
Usually servers that host games don't need GPU, but only CPU power and ram, since they don't render any animations/scenes or anything.
Most of the servers are dedicated - just a console if its easier to understand and CPU is doing all the job/calculations.
Also you would need a good amount of bandwidth depending on how many servers/players you are going to have.
