What is the difference in the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB 7200 RPM 3.5" Hard Disk Drive, one is ST31000524AS (with 32MB Cache) the other is ST1000DM003 (64MB Cache)? The physical drives look a little different, but I don't think that will matter. This is to replace a busted Seagate hard drive for a HP all-in-one TouchSmart 600. What's the difference in the ST31000524AS vs ST1000DM003?

The ST1000DM003 is a revision of ST31000524AS. The extra cache doesn't make a big difference so if you can get a better deal on the old one get it otherwise just go with the newer one.

For an all-in-one, since the thing is gonna be right on my face, personally I would investigate putting a 2.5" drive in there, for the reduced noise signature. I don't know whether they make 1TB 2.5" or how much are they though, nor whether the reduced performance is acceptable.
