Can you pair different type of ram into a motherboard??

Depends how different. Some types are straight no, for example trying to mix DDR3 with DDR4 or non-ECC with ECC sticks. In other cases the answer is maybe, when the sticks differ only by speed/latency/manufacturer/size. Even when it is possible to mix different RAM, it's worth noting that the more sticks differ the more likely they will not work together.
