Different Weapon Defenses-Stacking?

Been hearing conflicting information regarding defenses from the various
skill sets stacking. Question being, if you pick up say Master Fencer,
Master TKA and some bits from Pistoleer, will all the various defenses all
stack, or only the ones coming from the weapon you are currently holding?
I've heard both, so if anyone has done any testing or knows for a fact
either way, could you please let me know. Thanks.

Nevermind, just answered my own question from the Knowledge Base online.
Seems the defenses DO indeed stack from various professions. There are caps
on things like dodge and such (+125) but they do stack, regardless of what
weapon you are currently holding. So off I go to make a Master TKA, Master
Fencer, with all the defenses of the Pistoleer class.

I tried something similar on test center and it didn't seem to work. I made
a MBH with fencer 4440, which on paper should have had fantastic defenses,
but it didn't seem to in practice. So then I gave up fencer and added TK
0004, pistoleer 0004, and rifleman 0004. Those seem to stack. It looks to
me like the only ones that stack are the ones gained from combat experience.
Defensive skills gained from weapon experience only appear to apply to that
weapon.

Could you provide a link to the knowledge base you are looking at? Was this
from the SOE web site or from an independent web site? I would like to know
if the information you found was official or just somebody's conjecture,
because it doesn't fit my experience.

Ok I found the SOE link. They say it is possible to combine defenses, but
they don't say anything about whether it depends on the weapon. I have seen
posts somewhere where people said that it is affected by which weapon you
use. Sorry, didn't save the link. Again, what worked on test center was
combining defenses that were based on combat experience, not on weapon
experience.

You might want to try your character on a test center character builder
first before putting a lot of hours into it. I think you will find that the
pistoleer and TKA defenses are still there when using a 1-handed weapon, but
that the fencer defenses don't carry over when fighting empty-handed or with
the pistol. If you primarily want to be a fencer it will work great, but if
you want to use the other skills it won't quite be what you were hoping for.
You will still have huge defense, but it might not always stack as well as
you thought.

As far as I can tell, the ones that stack are TK 0004, pistoleer 0004,
rifleman 0004, and marksman 0004. (Marksman 0004 is not that great, but it
does appear to stack.) Stacking those 4 gives you melee defense +144
(before capping), ranged defense +55, defense acuity +71, block +10, dodge
+10. I believe defense acuity stacks with dodge, counterattack, and block,
so that effectively gives you block +81, dodge +81, and counterattack +71.
This will leave you 104 skill points with which to add offensive skills,
more than enough to master an elite and even some hybrid professions.

Here is the link to the online Knowledge Base. It's an online version of
the Knowledge Base in the Holocron in the game itself.

And the answer that I found:
