Differnce between R9 290X TRI-X OC And R9 290 TRI-X ?????? Help

im thinking about crossfireing the R9 290X TRI-X OC but im looking at spending $1000 on the two cards AUD priceing but i was thinking i could save $100 to $200 on money on getting the R9 290 Tril-x card im pretty stuck on that card by the way, but i wondering would it be better two save and get the R9 290 or spend a bit extra and get a R9 290X? please help, i have been stuck on this for a while.

If you are going to game in 1080p or even 1440p 2 R9 290 will be more than enough, if you want to game in 4K it's probably worth saving for the R9 290x since they are faster and 4k gaming needs a lot of GPU power.

True, yeh i have a 4k 144hz 1ms gtg monitor, so i might save but i would like to know whats the difference between the cards

The 290x has 2816 stream processors and the 290 has 2560, so the R9 290 is a cut down version of the 290x, which means the 290x is faster.
By the way there are no 4k 144hz monitors, displayport doesn't even support 4k at 144hz.

Shit really, i was told it was a 4k 144hz 🙁 disappointed now. thanks, ill have to save for the 290x
