Hello,

Recently I decided that I would build my first PC after my old one died after four years. I would like to keep my budget at the ~$1,000 price range. This PC will be used mostly for gaming.

After doing (a little bit of) research, I have came down to this build, other than the graphics card:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Additional Storage: Samsung Electronics MZ-7PD128BW 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch 128GB SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)

I would like the keep the graphics card below the $300 price mark. Also, I would not mind if you gave your advice on the other components as well.

TL;DR: What is the best graphics card that I can buy for less than $300 with my system specs?

if you're not getting a Z97 board later to OC that 4670K, consider dropping that CPU for a non-K CPU, like the i5-4670 for less. FYI; you're not going to see a lot of performance difference in games between the 4670 and the i5-4440. a few mhz don't really mean a whole lot in most cases, so consider saving a bit more if you're not OCing.

with money saved up on the CPU; you should be able to afford a more reliable PSU. the corsair CX just simply has a high failure rate. consider any one of the tier 2 psu, or tier 1 if you got the money; https://community.newegg.com/eggxpert/computer_hardware/f/135081/t/45344.aspx?Redirected=true
750W if you're going to get a second card to SLI or CF. 550-650W otherwise.

as for the GPU: there are some...

as for the GPU: there are some 280X for as low as $255 last i checked. otherwise, the GTX770. both are equal in performance, so go with the better deal.
