First time build everything going well started to connect front IO decided to move the USB 3 connector but I couldn't get it to budge without feeling like I was going to rip the motherboard out of the case. Eventually got out by rocking it back and forth but the plastic shroud that goes around the pins came off too. Is this normal for it to be this difficult and if it is any tips for next time? Thanks for any help you give

Motherboard: Asus Z97-Pro

ps sorry if this is the wrong category but it seemed to be the closest one for this and sorry for any other things that are wrong first time posting

EDIT

bit of an update after some research I found low profile usb 3 female connector which you could just then connect with a male connector to make an extension cable to connect to the front IO so you can get around the bulky connector and use a knife to help take it out. I do know you can find 90 degree extension cables but from what I've seen they're quite long so doing it custom means you don't have as much excess cable to manage.

Can you take a pic of the plug end and the header on the MB? I can't tell from your description whether you are talking about the shroud on the MB or the shroud on the plug. The plug and the header should look like this if all is well:

Anything else and you have problems.
...and no, they should not be hard to plug in and unplug. In fact, they sometimes come loose.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't have a camera handy at the moment but I was talking about the shroud on the motherboard on your pic the blue one labelled F_USB30, all the pins are intact . The front USB 3 is working fine so I haven't plugged it in the wrong way. I'm guessing I just have a slightly dodgy usb 3 connector
