Difficulty upgrading sp2 in window vista

Hello everyone, please help
I tried to upgrade my window vista sp1 to sp2 but failed everytime. It kept saying the element not found, and the code 490 but I could not find the code error anywhere, please help with any suggestions how to upgrade my window vista to sp2. Thanks in advanced.

Disable Antivirus and Firewall
Close all the programs
before updating your system... but keep one thing in mind... updating Windows Vista from SP1 to SP2 will take hell lot of time..!
