So, I just built yesterday. Listed at the bottom will be my parts list. With my motherboard, I have Q-LED indicators that stay lit in setup if a part is experiencing problems. My problem is with the DRAM light, or I believe so: hence I did this section instead of MOBO. Anyways, it stays lit. I checked each ram stick individually as online suggests, and between two sets of ram (where one was in a prior pc working, so known to be functional, other my new sticks) I found the first two RAM slots to be non functional. They stay lit. The others go as normal, with a cycle through the Q-LEDs and then posts fine.

The thing here is I’m not sure if they are bad by default with the motherboard, or it’s a trace-to-CPU problem. My PC will post when ram is in the third and fourth slot, but not the first two at all. Even when posting furthermore, the screen sometimes goes unresponsive and I have to restart the BIOS process. Past that, which might be worth mentioning, no boot drive is detected when my usb is plugged in to the top usb panel, this being the furthest I’ve been.

As of now, these are my thoughts on what could be related to this problem and could fix it. My friend suggests just sending back cpu and mobo for replacement. Please let me know if these would or would not be related to the issue.

  1. loosening motherboard screws
  2. clearing CMOS
  3. checking CPU for bent pins and reseating it
  4. XMP disable?
  5. remounting cooler system

I have verified that my processor and ram sticks are compatible as per the ASUS website.

Thanks in advance.

Do let me know if this should be moved to a different section - also if further PCparts are needed. I think I’ve narrowed the problem pretty well, just need clarification and support.
