Hi group

(I know i asked this below, but the problem remains unsolved so i will try
to be a little more specific):

Normally, when i pluged in my Dimage XI windows (XP pro) asked me if i
wanted to transfer pictures from the camera to the harddisk, and told me to
chose the directory to copy to.
Now, however, when i plug in the camera it is recognized as a removable
drive with some VERY unmanageable directories, -the main one is named
"DCIM", and a lot of numbered subdir's. what can i do to make windows again
see the camera as a device from which to transfer pictures?

Than you overmuch for helping me out her.

Best regards
/Jan Vejling

Reset your camera back to the default settings ...

YOU have changed the manner in which it stores the images. The "numbered
subdirectories' are individual dates on which the images were taken, the
DCIM is the 'root' directory to avoid the file limitation in the base of the
storage.

Just change to any directory and the images are there.

Windoze has -always- shown the Dimage as a removable ... 'least on any
system I've ever plugged mine into!
