Hello everyone, this is my first post and am glad to be apart of this community as I have referenced this site countless times over the past few days in building my pc.

I am waiting right now for my parts to arrive and I'm starting to think I should have done more homework in preparation of this build before I committed to buy lol.
The following is what I've ordered and is in route:
•motherboard- MSI 990xa am3+
•CPU- AMD 8 core bulldozer 8530
•gpu- nothing yet- as I had to return it because amazon sucks (evga Gtx GeForce 650 ti x2) thinking of MSI hd 7850 2gb frostr x2
•CPU fan- cool master v6 gt*
•patriot 16 gb 1822hz viper 3
•case-thermaltake ms-1 commander snow Ed.*

The first issue I had was the graphics card was advertised as sli supported, then after I bought it did some research and realized my mistake.
Then I got my CPU fan and started thinking about whether or not my case would support its size

I was hoping someone could help me out with this and any other deme soon problems if noticed. This is my first build and was hoping to have it completed by this upcoming weekend if all parts arrive in time.
Excitement has gotten the best of me I think lol

Thanx in advanced for the help-

Thats a very powerful combination.
You could have used less RAM

The 650ti is not an awesome graphics card , and its always better to use one more powerful card rather than 2 weaker ones .

A Radeon 7850 will game well at 1080p resolution
A 7870 games really well at 1080p , and should make really worthwhile performance in highly graphical games like BF3 or Crysis 3

Depends on your budget really

What are you using as a power supply?

Why not? It was 120- and I figured it would leave plenty of room for upgrading in the future

Eh, we'll like I said I obviously didn't do my homework- first build and all.

About the fit though, will it affect the space and ability to fit all my parts into the mid tower?

It's just your cooler that is in question. I have no way of knowing as the case is fairly new with not many reviews. 165mm is a standard size for the cooler... The CM 212 Evo is 159mm

People fit THAT cooler into a case that is only 7.5" wide with no issues

Your cooler MIGHT interfere with the heatsinks on the RAM also. This may be fixable by moving the ram sticks out to the second set of slots. Or the cooler, being taller, may clear the tall heatsinks.

Ok, I see- if it is too big, what would be the best method of fitting it into there, as I want to refrain from returning yet another part.

The heat sinks are the least of my worry on the ram, I've seen people take off one side of them and have no issues this far.

Maybe a minor modification to the case is possible??

Any suggestions to the best sli combo of cards for no more than $430 that's sufficient to play most modern games to come. Pointers or tips on general knowledge to keep in mind for the build and for getting any better parts than what's listed?

Thanx for the great help BTW

If the cooler is too tall you would have to cut a hole in the side of the case or leave the door off. I don't think it's going to be an issue though.

What resolution would your monitor be? At that price range it's almost always better to go with a single card. You avoid micro-stutter and issues where a game does not support SLI/CF.

The Radeon HD 7970 delivers such impressive performance at $385 that we find it hard to recommend higher-performing (but sometimes-inconsistent) multi-card configurations for more money.

I don't have a monitor yet lol- not enough money- for now I'm going to be using my tv though 1080p 42'

Could you link me to where I could buy the AMD version of the link you posted? I don't like the way gigabytes or the others look- AMD looks pretty legit lol

Again, is the hd 7970 compatible with my setup-demensions and psu?? It says it requires 500w minimum- with everything else I have including the fan requiring 200w ???

And would one 7970 be better than two 7850?
