I want to install a matched set of 2x48GB DDR5 RAM sticks (Corsair or Gskill) for 96GB total DDR5 RAM on a new build Asus Maximus Hero Z790 MB with an Intel-i9 13900K CPU.
I would like to install the 2 sticks in DIMM Slots A2-B2 for dual channels and leave the A1-B1 slots empty to provide increased space for airflow between the sticks and the CPU.
Are there any known or reported issues with doing this using specifically the Hero Z790/13900K config that would prohibit this slot placement or reduce memory performance due to a hardware bias for A1-B1 instead of A2-B2 when only 2 sticks are installed?
