Dina's diary

The first day I played the Caliente house, it got burglarized that
night. The next day, the sisters would frequently remember the
burglary and get upset. Sometimes Dina would forget what she was
doing--cooking or eating--distracted by the burglary. (I thought
there would be a Comfort option, but there wasn't, so I had them hug
and back rub each other.) In the evening, trying out actions I'd not
tried before, I had Dina write in her diary. She wrote about her
sister, she wrote about Mortimer Goth, she wrote about gnomes (WTF?),
she wrote about a teddy bear (WTF?)--she wrote and wrote and wrote for
hours. But did she write about the burglary? No, she did not.

I would have thought the diary writing would be tied to the memories.

What does diary writing do? I tried it once but it didn't seem to
increase any bars or any skills, so I'm not sure what the point is.

Writing novel on the computer increases creativity.

Yes, it seemed to increase Social a little bit (which seems odd) and
Fun a little bit--but neither of them very much.

I was mostly doing it to try it out, and to keep Dina busy for a
while.

Well, you do write, "Dear Diary...", which is kind of like talking to
another person. And kind of talking to almost other people is sort of fun.

I wonder if the diary was originally meant to be for kids more than
adults, because I've noticed that writing about toys and such seems to
be common in it.
