Alright so I have a router/modem combo, and a beastly computer. Randomly and without warning, mostly in the evening though, I will get these random and short huge ping spikes while playing league of legends. it mostly seems to be related to just League, but it does happen with some other applications. these ping spikes will happen for 1-2 seconds and will burst my ping up to anywhere between 200-2000. any ideas about how I can get my ping to be consistent? because honestly playing with a consistent 200, is better than playing with spikes between 30-2000.

I would have to say that a jitter on the line of 26 is not all that good.

It would be bad if it was a fiber optic cable connection.
But you can expect it on an ADSL type connection during some times of the day.

Just take a note of the times it happens when playing, if the time it happens seems to be the same then it can point to network bandwidth problems during peak times of the day, more so like said when using an ADSL broadband connection.
The fault is usually with the local telephone exchange your connected to not geared to cope with demand at peak times and using load balancing causing high ping and high jitters on the connection.

I play mostly from 10-1 in the evening, definitely not peak hours

so you're saying that its my internet providers fault? why would they be slowing my connection at 1 in the morning and doing it in random waves?
