Hello. I am currently using a Wifi Extender/Booster from TP-Link with an Ethernet cable to directly connect my PC to the extender. I would connect the cable to the router, but the router is downstairs and my PC is located upstairs. While the download speed is 35 mbps down and 20 mbps, the strength weakens every few minutes, leading in lag and ping spikes. I was wondering if I use a usb network adapter, if it would be a stronger, more consistent connection than my current setup. Thank you!

Unknown. WIFI is difficult to impossible to predict. If the USB WIFI has a large antenna (not a nano USB adapter), then maybe. But a WIFI extender can be moved around to get the best possible signal and a USB adapter can't, I would say you would probably not see any improvement. You should try powerline network adapters -- https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16833181534 The AV2 MIMO like I linked are the best performing.
